The Atlanta Pet Rescue Rainbow Bridge Memorial program

The loss of a canine or feline companion is always a heart breaking experience.

Everyone who has suffered through this kind of loss knows that it is a hard time for everyone involved.

No one can replace your companion or lessen the emptiness left in your life, but sometimes just the recognition of your loss helps begin the important grieving process.

Atlanta Pet Rescue has developed a program to help you memorialize your departed dog or cat family member, while at the same time supporting our rescue efforts.

You can also make a memorial for a family or friend who has recently lost their companion. What better way to memorialize the loss of one pet than to support the life-saving efforts of Atlanta Pet Rescue!?

Fabulous Feline seeks Friend

Hello I am Lizzie. I am a nine-month-old domestic short haired gray and white kitty. My brother Lennie and I came from an outlying animal rescue that has little adoption traffic. We have been in the rescue circuit most of our lives and are looking for a forever home to finally rest our precious paws. I love anyone who comes into the cat room to visit. I will quickly take advantage of your arrival by rubbing on your legs. I am a little reserved around the other kitties. Come meet me and I can show you how sweet and affectionate I am in person!

Atlanta Pet Rescue is open Tuesday – Friday 11am-3pm and Saturday 1pm-4pm. For more information about Atlanta Pet Rescue or how to adopt Lizzie or any of our 80+ dogs or cats, visit our web site.

Use Your Vote to Fight Animal Cruelty

DeKalb County Solicitor-General Shawn Ellen LaGrua launched an Animal Cruelty Initiative in May of 2005. The Initiative's purpose is two-fold: to encourage more effective prosecution of animal cruelty cases in DeKalb County and to educate the public about the importance of reporting animal cruelty.

It is well established that there are major links between perpetrators of animal cruelty and perpetrators of domestic violence. The Initiative is an important means to intervening in domestic violence and child abuse situations before the abuse becomes even more severe.

The launch of the Initiative included a day-long training for local law enforcement conducted by Animal Planet’s Animal Precinct stars Annemarie Lucas, Mark MacDonald and Henry Ruiz, agents with the ASPCA in New York City. Local students also had the opportunity to meet with the agents and learn what they can do about animal cruelty.

Currently, her office has a pending case involving a former animal control employee charged with animal cruelty as well as a number of other pending animal cruelty investigations.
