Fun-loving girl seeks love and security
My name is Sheba. I am a 24-pound, five-month-old well-mixed breed puppy. They tell me I will probably be about 40 pounds when I am a grown up, but I am in no hurry to grow up! I love everyone I meet. I can’t decide who I like playing with more… dogs or people. They are both fun. I have never met a cat, but I bet I would like to play with them too. My best feature is my “cute look”: I perk up my usually floppy ears and tilt my head to the side. It works like a charm on my foster mom. My hobbies include playing with my dog park friends and my foster sister, and curling up in my foster mom’s lap with a good chew toy. Another great thing about me is that I shed very little if at all. I am very smart; I come when called, and know "off" and "sit". I am proud to say that I am housebroken and crate trained. Come meet me and you will see what a loyal, loving and devoted family member and companion I am. |

Meet Ziggy

Joy adopted Ziggy from Atlanta Pet Rescue about two years ago. Since then, he has developed that glow you see in a once-homeless dog that finally finds love in a permanent, happy home. Not only did he find a great home, but he found a great job! Thanks to his mom (and lots of hard work on his part), Ziggy passed his Canine Good Citizen test and earned the official an honorable title of a Happy Tails dog. For those of you who haven’t heard of HappyTails, it is a volunteer service that provides trained volunteer/pet teams to aid in animal-therapy at retirement and geriatric facilities, children’s hospitals, psychiatric hospitals and other acute care facilities in the Atlanta area. Once a month, Ziggy and Joy head to the William Breman Jewish Home to bring a little sunshine into the lives of the residents there. |
On the day I met up with Ziggy, he and his fellow Happy Tails colleagues made their rounds from room to room on each of the five floors of the home. The visit took about two hours and was a huge success. There was one lady who was so enamored with the dogs that she followed us from floor to floor, joining in on the fun. Another happy moment was when another resident asked if she could keep one of the Happy Tails dogs overnight—she enjoyed their company so much that she didn’t want to see them go! For many of the residents, Ziggy and his HappyTails gang were the highlight of their month. Ziggy and his mom, Joy, went through a lot of hard work to be Happy Tails volunteers—training classes, tests, orientation classes and more tests. But to see Ziggy in action you would think he was born for the job. Maybe it is his expressive face, or his playful demeanor, but you can tell he is happy to be there. He truly seems to enjoy his job. Congratulations to Ziggy and his mom for showing the community just how fabulous our rescue dogs are!
